Get ready for another excellent week in the dojo! Our theme for the week of 10/30 is “Speak Less, Do More”. It’s about really digging deep to live the values that we talk about. It’s easy for us to have opinions. We have opinions about how to get the most out of training, how to be healthy, how to help make the world a better place. But it takes work, day in and day out, to really look at how we are living and try to align our actions with our ideals.
And it also takes courage to admit that we, along with everyone else, will pretty much always fall short of the mark. That’s okay. We’re human. The key is to really look deeply and do our best. I encourage you this week to dig in and see how you can step up a little more towards the values you wish to live.
Now, we have an ambitious service project coming up. We are making tons of food to fill up homeless shelters this Thanksgiving! I’m not worried about whether or not we can pull it off, though. Because I know this dojo community, and this dojo community takes action. What’s about to take place on November 19th is case and point of how Budo Mountain families live this week’s theme in our daily lives. I am so grateful to be part of such a group of people.
We’ll explore this week’s theme by having silent training in part of each class. It can be a bit surprising at first, but it’s actually quite fun and excellent training! Silent training allows you to cut out all the noise and get to the heart of what you’re learning. It’s the first week of “Fire” Month! We’re working on:
- Front Rolls and Break Falls
- Blocks and Strikes
- Moving Seamlessly between Postures
- Front Angle Footwork
Remember to use Password A to login to the Member’s Site and practice! Kids, your Special Mission is up this afternoon too!
The Sign Up Sheet for the Big Thanksgiving Service Project is now up here! What we will need most are a few brave bakers to bring the casseroles and pies home to bake and deliver to the shelter. This is so important and helpful so thank you to those stepping up! We also need folks to bring ingredients and of course to join us for the event! All help is wonderful and valued.
Thanks for reading and I’ll see you in the dojo!
