Nature Adventures Summer Camp is gearing up for an amazing summer and looking to hire another lead counselor. It’s the Asheville twist on traditional summer camp, framed by themes from nature and based in martial arts principles. We start each day with camp songs and movement games. Then, we head to the woods or fields for a safe and educational adventure. After lunch, it’s time for free play and rest by the creek or in our secret cabin in the rhododendrons. The afternoons are for arts and crafts or special topic workshops from community leaders in topics like Qi Gong, basketball, wild foods and cultivating the garden in our own Ninja Village.
The camp runs from 9 am to 3:00 pm, these weeks:
Mountain Adventures: June 15th – June 19th
Water Wonders: June 22nd – June 26th
Inner Spark: July 13th – July 17th
Flying Lessons: July 20th – July 24th
Endless Explorations: July 27th – July 31st
One of our lead instructors is Sean Kennedy, head instructor in the Ninja Kids Club. We are looking to hire another person who feels confident leading a group of up to nine campers in games, explorations, and adventures that teach kids about nature in ways that relate to the overall theme of camp that week.
Our ideal instructor would:
-Have a degree or similar expertise in one of the following: Ecology, Wilderness Skills, Outdoor Education, Herbalism and Wildcrafting, Study of Plants and Trees.
-Have at least 5 years of recent experience working with groups of young children. Our camp is for rising Kindergarten through Fifth graders.
We encourage potential candidates to read through the information on ashevilleninjas.com/nature-adventures-summer–camp, and then send their resume to ashevilleninjas@gmail.com.
